1. Preparatory training by IWMC to mediation centres of Aceh, Pontianak, and Mataram, which includes
a. English language training on Java. IALF (or institute in Semarang ) Aug-Oct 2007

b. Short fieldwork by the participants, workshop on the field reports and bridging program. Consortium 2008

d. WMC will subsequently give training with both theoretical/analytical and skills-oriented elements, which will be geared to the Indonesian context, ways of applying general/Western approaches to that context and it will draw on the experiences of WMC. WMC 2008

2. Developing the Curriculum
2.1 WMC will set up syllabus on ?mediation and conflict resolution? for IAIN students (freshmen). The same course will be given by different faculties (Islamic law, education etc) by different teachers. Courses normally last about 16 weeks, with 1.5 hour

a. Consortium provides WMC with relevant materials for syllabus in summer 2007. Consortium Jul-Aug 2007

b. Drawing from these materials, WMC designs its own course and syllabus. WMC Sep-Nov 2007

c. Consortium gives feedback and technical assistance, if required. Consortium Nov-Jan

d. WMC will initiate the course in February 2008. WMC Feb 2008

2.2. Training module for mediation. In contrast to the course above, this training has a strongly practical focus and is aimed at practitioners, primarily staff from the mediation centres.

a. WMC creates module in Bahasa Indonesia based on materials from the training in Holland . WMC Jun-Aug 2007

b. Consultation (particularly Hans Loots and Nick Lewer) provides feedback on the general set-up of the training. Consortium Sep-Oct 2007

c. Writing up the module consists of goal, method, process, tool and content. WMC Nov-Dec 2007

3. Follow-up training by the Dutch consortium (to be held in Semarang )
1.1 Additional training by Martin Euwema on Intra-group and conflict intervention. Consortium Oct/Nov 2007

1.2 WMC needs additional training and associated material to be provided by the Centre for Conflict Studies on religion and identity-based conflicts (theories, approaches as well as skills on how to deal with this kind of conflict). Consortium Oct/Nov 2007

1.3 More elaboration by Nick Lewer on how to deal with religion based conflict based on three WMC?s well documented and presented cases on religious conflicts. Consortium Oct/Nov 2007
